CORONAVIRUS KASARGOD KARNATAKA

Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said as a precautionary measure to prevent Corona virus state department of public instructions has issued a late night circular which applies to the LKG, UKG and preprimary sections in all schools, including private, aided and unaided schools to close down on Monday.

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Friday said that malls, universities and colleges, movie theatres, night clubs, marriages and conferences and other public areas with high footfall will be closed or cancelled for a week, as a precautionary measure amid the growing scare of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

On Sunday 22 March, after the second meeting of the Task force formed to tackle the COVID-19.The Government announced further restriction in the form of Lokdown of 9 Districts until 31 March. All Non-Essential services in these disctricts were suspended. The nine Districts where COVID-19 cases reported from included: Bengaluru (Rural and Urban Districts), Chikkaballapura district, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad district, Kalaburgi district, Mysore district, Kodagu district and Belgaum district.

Further, to contain community transmission of the virus, Central Government took a major decision to Lockdown entire country for a period of 21 days beginning from 25 March. In line with Central Government’s announcement, the State of Karnataka was also locked down. During the lockdown, all modes of public transport, commercial establishments were closed and any movement of people was restricted. However, shops and establishments providing essential services were allowed to be operational during the lockdown.
